To bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry demands, dozens of students from the Informatics Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta conducted a series of Industrial Visits and Comparative Studies at multiple institutions from May 4–7, 2026. The program covered Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bandung.

Over four days, students visited government agencies, global technology manufacturing companies, and national research institutions, and engaged in inter-campus collaboration. The goal was clear: to equip students with practical insights into the complete digital ecosystem—from regulations and hardware production processes to applied research and student organization management.

More than just observers, students also participated in active discussions with practitioners and researchers. Topics addressed current issues such as data security, digital transformation, and strategies for developing competitive IT talent. This experience is expected to inspire students to create digital innovations that are practical, impactful, and competitive.

There are three key institutions visited:
1.Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta
Students learned directly about the Indonesian Digital Roadmap. Discussion focused on the crucial role of informatics talent in safeguarding data sovereignty and strengthening national cybersecurity.

2.PT OPPO Manufacturing Indonesia, Tangerang
At OPPO’s manufacturing plant, students observed large-scale software-hardware integration processes. They also studied the strict Quality Control standards applied to global technology products.

3.BRIN Bandung
The visit to the National Research and Innovation Agency broadened students’ understanding of applied research. Discussions with researchers motivated students to develop research-based innovations that address Indonesia’s technological challenges.

Comparative Study: Building Collaboration with UIN Bandung
The agenda concluded with a collaborative meeting between HMIT UIN SUKAYogyakarta and HIMATIF UIN SGD Bandung. This forum was a platform for sharing ideas on student creativity development and strengthening academic networks among PTKIN institutions.
